Enriching Adventure At Banyan Tree Bintan

With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions and the gradual resumption of travel in 2022, our family was so blessed to be able to reconnect with nature during our lovely trip to Bintan. The pandemic truly taught us to cherish the little things like the simple joy of being able to bask in the sun!

Protecting the environment has always been important to me. Even more so now that our lil one is growing up! I believe that sustainability education begins young, to instil the value of building a shared future together for generations to come. We were overjoyed that our stay at the wonderful Banyan Tree Bintan happily coincided with Biodiversity Day on 22 May.

Our family was whisked off for a 3-day Mega FUN expedition raising global awareness about the importance of global biodiversity protecting biological plants & animals that shapes our environment and it left us wanting to STAY FOR GOOD ♡

Here’s our itinerary at the Banyan Tree Bintan, so you and your family can have a wildin’ good time as well!

Day 1

We kickstarted the day with a pampering 60 minute all-natural spa treatment with Turmeric Honey Cleanser at the in-house Banyan Tree Spa. A perfect relaxing start to an energising vacation! Look how much Chriselle enjoyed her mini spa session!

Our next heartwarming activity left us in awe - the Sea Turtle Release! It was truly a dream come true and a surreal experience for Chriselle to release the tiny newborn sea turtles back into the deep blue sea.

Looking back, we visited Banyan Tree Bintan in 2018 when Chriselle was just 2 years old, and she had her first experience feeding the sea turtles in Cassia Bintan… How time flies!

4 years later, it’s her first time releasing the sea turtle hatchlings back home! Aww… what a wonderful and novel biodiversity experience for the lil one!

We ended the day with a glorious Welcome Dinner prepared by the staff at Banyan Tree Bintan. Tummies full and full of excitement, we were all ready to see what adventures await us on Day 2!

Day 2

Bright and early, our family began the morning with some bird watching! We managed to spot some unique birds high up in the trees who were swooping about happily…

It was now time for our highly anticipated activity of Ranger Trailing! Game ON!

We are so proud of our brave lil trooper Chriselle, who happily joined us for the hour-long trek! Seriously lurve engaging in such outdoor activities with our precious gal and the hubbz… Breathing in some much needed fresh air and morning dew!

It was not easy but it was certainly doable as Chriselle has demonstrated. With sheer determination, all things are possible!

We ended the trek, soaked to our skin in sweat but it was surely an enriching journey with our family learning lots about loving our habitat and protecting our ecosystem along the way! Spot the majestic view of our villa in the background!

Next on our agenda, we were warmly welcomed to tour the Taman Gudem Stingless Bee Farm!

The locals hosted us with so much hospitality and even let us have a taste of the honey produced there. Tastes so good! Really lurve the natural sweetness.

We then moved on for our super fun goat feeding activity!

It was Chriselle’s first time and she really loved it a lot. Especially the feeding of the baby goats where she got to play the Mummy for once!

We ended our journey for the day with a free sapling planting experience. Certainly a first for both Chriselle and I! This was extra meaningful as we shared more about how we should embrace and appreciate Mother Nature.

We are so proud of Chriselle for being such a good sport and environmentally conscious even at such a young age. We named our plant, cindychriselle… Grow well little one!

It’s really amazing how Banyan Tree Bintan takes so much effort in organising sustainable activities for our lil family especially with a 6 year old in tow!

After an exciting day, we wound down for the day with an in-room BBQ in high spirits, to recharge and rest up for our last day!

Day 3

On our last day at the Banyan Tree Bintan, we spent a fantastic time at the Safari Lagoi! This is certainly the place to bring your little kiddos for a FUN yet educational wildlife escapade!

Our first friend of the day was a beautiful snowy white parrot! Love how attentive and caring the staff were at helping Chriselle perch the parrot safely on her arm..

Our lil one had so much fun chatting with the parrot and we even attempted to teach it how to say “Happy Biodiversity Day!”! How smart!

Halfway through our interesting conversation with the parrot, Emma the Elephant strolled past us! This beauty is actually 36 years old and weighs a whopping 800 kg!

There were many other animals to feed, like the cute little bunnies!

The highlight for us was really interacting with the giant snake!!! Look how brave and calm the hubbz was even as the snake wrapped around him like a scarf…

Here’s some info about the safari! *Information is correct at the time of posting, view their Instagram here for the most updated info!

Safari Lagoi opens daily from 8 am to 4.30 pm.

It’s really amazing how affordable the visit to Safari Lagoi is! Tickets cost around SGD $11 for adults and $6 for kids under 12 years old. If you simply want to visit and feed the animals, no bookings are required!

If you want to make special arrangements for an elephant ride or interactions with the snake, please make a booking in advance by contacting @safarilagoibintanindonesia via Instagram DM!

All in all, our lil family had an absolute blast feeding and mingling with the wildlife at Safari Lagoi.

What an enriching experience it has been for all of us! It was a valuable opportunity for our family to reconnect ourselves with the wonders of the Earth. These precious memories we forged together in Bintan will surely stay with us for a lifetime
